A centred mind and limber body. A balanced, calm and focussed intent. A commitment to your well-being through a tailored Pilates experience designed to permeate all aspects of your life. These are the principles on which Imbue Pilates was founded. 

01. THE JOURNEY

Pilates is a practice to physically, mentally and spiritually improve ones life. At Imbue Pilates it is with this attitude that we tailor our approach for each individuals needs.

Everyone starts somewhere. Our approach is to meet you at a junction along your journey; whether that is as an absolute beginner or having practiced Pilates for some time… and extend you to a new level of understanding of Pilates, your body and your movement patterns.

If you are new to the studio, we start with a 1:1 (75min) session. There is no expectation for you to remember sequences or names of exercises, but rather that you learn how to engage and release muscles, draw attention to how you are standing and moving, and walk a little taller, experiencing a wholehearted connection to your body and breath.

Annually, we make time for a 1:1 ‘health calibration’ session to reconnect with your ‘why’ and refocus on your intention.

02. EVOLVEMENT

Transformation starts with the individual, and by empowering, encouraging and accompanying our clients, we partake in the process of evolvement.

Imbue Pilates is a place to better understand movement by generating a deeper understanding of your body in space. A natural process of learning is supported by our ‘Permeate’ workshop series, allowing for an integrated approach to the knowledge and experience.

Workshop 1: Spring

Finding your feet

Giving some love and attention to our feet is tantamount to balance, standing repertoire and living life. We explore the importance of feet and toes and develop an appreciation of our foundations – feet and lower limbs.

Workshop 2: Summer

Centre

Core stability and posture is founded on an awareness of hips, pelvis, core and spine. We explore the power of breath and sensation to better understand our centre – abdominals, lower back & deportment.

Workshop 3: Winter

Shoulders & Neck

Daily habits define movement patterns which translate into either tension or ease, rigidity or graceful movement. We explore the pillars of efficiency of movement and organisation of the spine and torso.

03. INTEGRATION

Whether it is for fitness,  rehabilitation, recovery, or simply centring ones life, our philosophy at Imbue is about one of wellbeing, not one of specific practices.

Our Pilates classes are designed to focus specifically on your unique needs; strength, tone, balance, stress relief, postural alignment or flexibility.

Lower Back Pain & Posture

There are many reasons for back pain, so we work with you and your health practitioner to deliver thoughtful, guided programs that will support you towards improved back health and freedom of movement. Abdominals, glutes and shoulder stabilisers all work together to give us true core strength and support our spine & pelvis in functional movement patterns.

Prenatal Programs

Our pre-natal programs are low-impact, which means that you can practise through all stages of your pregnancy. Studio Pilates is perfect for pregnant women because of the way it strengthens, stretches and stabilises the body. We have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of pregnant mothers, and are like a proud Aunty of many studio ‘babes’ over the years.

Athletic Performance

We focus on the specific needs of your passion for movement; running, golf, cycling, dance or other modalities. Drawing on extensive repertoire from floor work, the reformer, trapeze table and wunda chair, our semi-private classes allow for the refinement of tailored programs to support your dedication and focus.

Overall Fitness

The guiding principles of Pilates provide a balanced framework from which to practice and attain greater levels of health and fitness; control, breath, concentration, flow, centring & precision. These provide a framework and foundation that informs every class. Pilates principles can become the guiding influence of your session and your day to follow.

04. PROCESS

Process and evolution are fundamental to the Pilates experience. Our aim is to embark on a journey with our clients, one that meets them where they are today, and motivates them for where they want to be tomorrow.

With an emphasis on body awareness, breath and functional movement, Imbue studio practices thoughtful and purposeful Pilates to promote both physical and mental well-being.

Zoë is a ‘Level 3 AUSactive Pilates Method’  practitioner, yoga teacher, stretch therapist and Bachelor of Human Movement graduate. Her teaching experience extends over 25 years, encompassing a diversity of movement modalities. Pilates is her greatest mentor.
